Nothing forwarded is kept beyond 90 days. A message is parsed into a review row and the original is deleted on that schedule, whatever happens. That window is a promise, not a setting — a mailbox of other people's bank mail piling up indefinitely is the worst thing this service could quietly become.

Hosting opens when there are people waiting for it
That is not a growth tactic. Building the hosting before knowing anyone wants it is how you spend four months on something nobody asked for.
Questions worth answering first
Is the self-hosted version crippled?
No, and it never will be. Self-hosting gets every feature including the ones the hosted tiers do not have — Gmail ingestion among them. What you pay for is somebody else doing the backups, the updates and the 2am worrying.
The free version is licensed for noncommercial use: your own household, study, research, a hobby project, and charities, schools and public bodies. Using it to run a business — including keeping the books of a company or a freelance practice — needs either a hosted plan or a commercial licence, which you can ask for at hello@flaxvin.tech.
Why is Gmail missing from the hosted plans?
Reading your inbox needs a Google permission tier that requires an annual third-party security audit for any public service. That is months of somebody else's calendar and a five-figure recurring cost, and it would have to be priced into every plan including the ones nobody uses it on.
The forwarding add-on gets most of the same result the other way round: you push the mail to us, rather than us reaching into your inbox. If you want the real thing, self-host — you consent to your own Google project and none of this applies to you.
Where does my data actually live?
Self-hosted, wherever you put it — that is the whole point of the free version.
On a hosted plan, in its own database: one container and one file per customer, not a shared table with your row in it. Hosting is not open yet and the provider and region are not settled; both will be named on this site, and sent to everyone on the waitlist, before anyone's data is stored anywhere.
What happens to my data if I stop paying?
It is deleted five days after the plan ends — whether you cancelled, let it expire, or a payment failed. The live database, every backup and every attachment go together. There is no archive, no grace copy, and no way for us to bring it back afterwards, however soon you ask.
Five days is short on purpose. Holding other people's financial records after they have stopped paying for the service is a liability — for them more than for us.
So export first. One endpoint returns everything in an open format, at any time, on every plan, and the result is a SQLite file you can open with anything. The free version will load it straight back in.

This is deliberate and it is tested: the export is asserted complete by the test suite. Software that is hard to leave is software that has stopped trying to be worth staying with.
What is “on demand”, and should I pay to avoid it?
Every hosted plan runs your household in its own container with its own database file. The two prices are the same software. They differ only in whether that container is allowed to stop.
On demand stops your container after a spell with nobody using it, and starts it again on your next visit — a second or two, about as long as a page load on a slow connection. Once awake it stays awake while you are using it. A household opens a budget a few times a day, so it is asleep most of the month, and that is the whole reason this price can be what it is.
Always on never stops. Every page is instant, and a script hitting the API never waits for a wake-up. Worth the difference if you check the budget many times a day, or if you automate against it.
Nothing is lost while it sleeps. Your database is a file on a volume that stays exactly where it is, and scheduled work — the nightly backup, the digest, price refresh — runs on both. It does not depend on anyone being awake to look.
You can switch between the two at any time, and the change takes effect on your next bill.
Is there a free trial?
There is a live demo with three years of data you can change however you like, and there is a free version you can run forever. Between them you can answer every question about whether this suits you before paying anything.
That is also why there are no refunds: fees already paid are not returned, and cancelling stops the next charge rather than reversing the last one. Nothing is hidden behind the paywall that you cannot try first.
What happens if you stop?
The source is public and the data format is documented, so the worst case is that you move the file to your own machine and carry on. That is the reason the free tier stays unlimited: it is what makes the hosted tier safe to buy.
